Need to dye my black hair blonde...?

I'm in a musical where my character is supposed to be blonde. (Think: Marilyn Monroe style blonde)

I currently have dyed black hair (naturally medium brown)

I'm definitely going to a salon to do it, but I'm really worried about how it will turn out. I've never bleached my hair before, so I'd like to know what I need to do to take care of it.

And also, should I get lowlights to help make it look more natural? (My skin is olive-toned...not good for blonde)

So any tips that you have, I'd really appreciate it.

well your skin is olive and your natural hair colour is medium brown you would look the best with a honey blonde. If you need to go a deep blonde make sure its going to turn the colour pale blonde or strawbarry blond those are natural colours. The strawberry blond is pretty well the same as pale blonde dont let the name full you. The problem and I dont blame you is alot of times when you dye your hair blond it will turn yellow or it will be white like cotton and dead looking. So make sure you go to a actual professional that knows alot about colours. To take care of the colour so it doesnt fade you should obviously use a colour treated shampoo and conditioner, and on top of that a treatment to use. But dont use over the counter do it your self hair dye it will damage your hair much more than getting it done at a salon. I hope this helps you.

If you have to for the part, then yes. If you have an option, then no. Don't dye it! Dark hair is so in.

So why are you going to dye your hair (corrective color...what going black to blonde is)...it's going to cost you anywhere from $120 to $250 depending on your hair length...it takes several sessions over a period of several weeks.

Just purchase a good synthetic wig.

Bleaching your hair will destroy it and you'll regret it for a long time..until all the bleached hair grows out or breaks out.

If you're happy with your current haircolor, I wouldn't change it. I would purchase a wig then you wouldn't have to worry about any mishaps. You can bleach your hair and if you haven't had a lot of previous processing done (you did say you currently have it dyed black) it shouldn't damage it too much. Have your colorist look at your hair to determine if it's a good idea based on how much (if any) damage there is to it. The Marilyn Monroe platinum blonde looks good on fairer skin tones than olive. I wouldn't do something permanent with your hair that might not suit your skin tone.

Instead of dying your hair why don't you get a short blonde wig. i wore one exactly like that hairstyle you need.

anyway if you till don't want to wear the wig then dye it but its pretty bad that you give up you hair colour for some musical at school.. first they dye it white and then they dye over that blonde its cost a lot so i would go with the wig =)
